A new center is being created at UC Berkeley to study political rights under the idea that it has been neglected as a scholarly topic. New Political Study Center? Turn Right at Berkeley The political orientation of the program is supposedly neutral, and I am not sure from the sound of the article whether its creation is politically-motivated. I wonder: do you think the political right has been neglected in terms of academic study? Can the right even be grouped into one topic for study? After all, conservatives of America will probably have relatively little in common with some of those on the far right in Europe, and radicals on the left will also share some things in common with the radical right. Thoughts?
I am automatically suspicious of anything coming out of Berkeley. It will be interesting to read aome of the articles that come out of this center.
