This new archaeology site opened very recently. I may sign up for the premium version of the site, which looks like it is free for the time being.http://www.popular-archaeology.com/

But see this on the front page:Beginning December 29 and for a limited time only, premium access, normally requiring a premium subscription, will be free. Unfortunately, it didn't give me an option to select the premium account without paying. So maybe the site has its own kinks to work out.

You're right, I registered but no free option available although I can now have access to the different articles. Perhaps this was the free offer ?!
