The upper classes who owned much of Europe and America over the centuries handed their wealth down through the generations, and while powerful family names may have little clout today, that wealth has to have gone somewhere.  Does anyone know if significant sums of wealth are still within such families today?  I'm thinking of the Medicis of the world, the Astors, the Carnegies, etc.
