Will post more as I find them.U.S. History - FREE - includes the U.S. Constituion, Bill of Rights, and other documents, famous speeches, and little factoids about the presidents.
At least for Apple devices, there are a number of museum apps which could be helpful. I believe they're put out by major museums.Also, there are several walking tours apps out there. I'd imagine these would have many places of historical sites in towns throughout the world.
I'm finding a few of them, but you have to pay. Didn't think of museums. I'm on some mailing lists, so I'll have to check their sites to see if they have any apps.

Similar thing happened with the Louvre app that I put on my Ipod Touch – it said it was too big.
