But who didn't see this coming? This is what Leftist utopia will look like. Up to 70 major artifacts stolen in raid on Greece's Olympia museum
Yes, very sad. Those artifacts will probably not be seen again for awhile, they will no doubt end up in some rich collectors house. What a pity.
It is a major bummer whenever museums get raided like this. Unless they were part of a sophisticated criminal network, I wouldn't be surprised if the artifacts end up in someone's storage attic or sold for pennies on the dollar after they realize that such items cannot just be sold out in the open for the millions they will want. Scholars, then, are left to study photographs because they no longer have the actual item to work with. It's a shame.
They should just close and padlock every museum in Greece right now before more of this happens. I am now officially FOR the Elgin marbles being in the British Museum.
That's a good point. Hadn't thought about that, but the more Greece riots, the more solid the British Museum's case becomes.
I don't think the Elgin Marbles are going back to Greece anytime soon.
Just keep them in London until I get there because it doesn't look I'll be going to Greece in the near future.
Gentlemen, I think it's time for you to sail to Greece and live an extraordinary experience in the cradle of democracy. This is "Holiday Paradise" : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20958353
