Located in Somerset, England, this is the hill that was depicted in the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics. Here's a picture of it.The history of this place is quite fascinating as it has ties to Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea, Ancient Rome, Avalon and King Arthur, and is the mythological home of Gwyn ap Nudd, the king of the fairies. The structure on top are the ruins of St. Michael's church built in the 14th century.I would love to see this and since it's close to Barton St. David (where my ancestors came from and I plan on visiting) that is very likely.
There was a big tree on the top of the one in the stadium. It's not in the that photo, though. I wonder why it was put there for the Olympics.
Maybe because uprooting a tree looks cooler than lifting a tower?
