Here are several historic Post Office buildings, generally built in the early 20th century or before, which may be up for sale or in danger of being altered. The U.S. Post Office, as we know, is not doing very well these days. Makes me think how fortunate we are to have the government operating our healthcare system now. I think as long as they can keep the buildings from being demolished, it is a good thing. How much mail do you send through the USPS versus Emails?
Yes, I agree. Older buildings are often times functionally obsolete, but their exteriors frequently look a lot nicer than modern buildings. Besides, the Post Office needs money, and it needs to rethink the way it does things.
Some of the old post offices are beautiful Art Deco buildings. They were a point of pride for some towns. I know some near where I grew up that are just amazing. It is too sad the same kind of artistry does not go into new buildings.
