Last year I challenged Donnie to see who could predict the winner of more weekly college football games correctly. We generally sparred over games played in the Big East, and Donnie came out ahead at the end of the season. I wanted to do something similar this year, and I looked around for a way to keep track of the winning side for each week. Unfortunately, I didn't come up with anything. I looked into converting this whole forum into a phpbb forum and using the Bookmaker's add-on, but apparently they don't have an updated version there. I also looked at some sports betting programs that I could install onto this site for free, but there wasn't anything worthwhile.Any ideas as to how we could do this? If nothing, I can simply resort to what I did last year - keep track of the wins/losses manually.
I would suggest keeping it limited to the Power 5 conferences (SEC, Pac 12, B1G, ACC, Big XII), and top 25 teams from non power conferences like Louisville (preseason top ten). You can pick the games of the week if you want from each conference so we don't get overwhelmed with 60 games every week.
Ok, well I found a system that works pretty much exactly as I had wanted it, and it was right under my nose. Yahoo has a system in place which allows us to do all this and keeps track of it. We can pick pick from games in the AP top 25, from individual conferences, and/or the “most interesting games of the week”. Right now, I have it set to the latter, so that should include Louisville so long as they're highly ranked. If you want, I can change it to choose from the Top 25 only (doesn't matter to me).I have added the feature of "Use confidence points" for extra grooviness. All here are welcome to play. I will tentatively try to post a thread each week before and/or after the week's games to update. You have to select the winner in 20 different games, and if your team wins you get the number of confidence points you awarded for that game. In other words, for the games you're most sure about, you will want to award a higher number of confidence points (e.g. 20). For games that you think could go either way, assign a lower number of confidence points. The teams in the WCF league are then ranked according to how many confidence points we accrue during the weeks.
Well, I did it backwards this week then. I assigned them points in reverse order. I gave the lowest points to the picks I had the most confidence in.I was dissapointed to see the OU game was not on the list too. 🙁
Phid I don't know if I'm going to have time. I've been promoted to production supervisor at my job and moved to third shift. We'll see.
I see. Well, we have about nine teams right now and so if you want to join it would add to the enjoyment. However, if you can't, you can't. Congratulations on the promotion! From what I recall, this is a blessing for you (I assume/hope the promotion came with a pay raise).

I think if OU climbs the ranks or becomes one of the "interesting" teams playing games, they'll be listed in the games to choose from at times.
I haven't gotten a pay raise yet. I've been given 30 days to prove myself, and then afterward I'll get a raise and switch to salary. We've just been bought by a rival company so there is a chance they may close the plant down since they have one in Indianapolis that might be able to absorb our orders and equipment.
Thank you. I had one of my machine adjusters quit on me last night. He's going to Toyota. I was already short-handed. It takes a while to train a machine adjuster. It's a skilled trade position. 🙁
I hope things work out at the plant. Perhaps we can arrange something for March Madness like we did in the past. I did get 13 teams to join the WCF college football pick'em, so that is nice. I may end up in first place after this week if my pick of Sanford over Georgia State holds.
So far with three games left to be played I have gotten all my picks but 3 right. One of the one's I got wrong was the GA State game. Who would have though Samford would win?
I am impressed – you were tied for picking the most games correctly at 17/20, but you used the wrong number of confidence points on them so you are stuck in the middle of the league rankings now.
