I have to get into a tenure track program and get tenure so that I can speak my mind.  I definitely hold views outside of the mainstream of PC thought.  Tenure will give me the freedom to chalemnge students to question the staus quo in historical thought.  I guess in that way I am an enlightment historian.  I tend to be somewhat critical of some historical interpretations because I think they are too simple and ignore important aspects of certain events.  I will start getting serious about getting into a PhD prgram next spring after I finish my MA.
