The only problem with the British Battles site is the battle descriptions are more synopsis than description. They do have a pretty comprehensive list though.
It's a start, but the couple I checked so far are almost word for word from wikipedia.
Wikipedia is a good place to start research too. Just don't rely on anything you read there being definitive.
