    I have come upon this book:"Title:  A sergeant's diary in the World War : the diary of an enlisted member of the 150th Field Artillery (Forty-second (Rainbow) Division), October 27, 1917 to August 7, 1919 Authors:  Straub, Elmer Frank. "and it is absolutely facsinating, the chapter distribution and the emotions behind it is just moving.  Chapter I. From the university to the Army  Chapter II. France  Chapter III. The Lorraine front  Chapter IV. A training sector  Chapter V. Up with the guns  Chapter VI. The champagne front  Chapter VII. The Chateau Thierry front  Chapter VIII. A rest camp??  Chapter IX. The St. Mihiel sector  Chapter X. The Meuse-Argonne front  Chapter XI. Germany bound  Chapter XII. My last two months in Europe  Chapter XIII. In England  Chapter XIV. Scotland  Chapter XV. Travel over the Isles  Chapter XVI. Homeward bound  Chapter XVII. Home again I was able to get a copy at ancestralbooks.com/catalog

    I read it a couple of years ago.  It is an interesting read and not something that gets as much notice as it should.  The worm's eye view of the WWI Army is interesting to say the least.
