US hits out at Afghan war leaks http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-10758578 The United States has condemned as "irresponsible" the leak of 90,000 military records, saying publication could threaten national security.If I do agree with the above statement however my question is why this thing can happen ?Is there a kind of "hidden agenda" from people like Julian Assange or what is the context that allows people to "betray" or leak such informations from inside, endangering so many civilian and military lives ??
Honestly, I think they are just idealists that are more than willing to see more soldiers and civilians die as long as they don't have to accept any consqequences. I spent some time browsing the documents and for a shrewd person there is plenty of material there on what we call TTP's or Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures that the American and NATO forces use. You need some idea of what to key on but I think it is safe to assume that our enemies know what to key on. It really bothers me because I have friends downrange right now who this information puts in danger.Don't get me wrong, I am all about an open society but stuff like this smacks more of treason than a quest for transparency. It is the equivalent of finding out the combination to your neighbors safe and putting a banner in your yard with thew times they are not home, where the safe is, and what the contents and combination is.To me, this Assaunge guy is despicable. He is one with those who defend the actions of Palestinian terrorists while decrying the actions of the Israelis. He ignores the moral element of attacking civilians on one side while making a moral argument about colllateral casualties in a conventional military engagement.

There exists the belief in the modern press that things should be published rather than kept in the dark. I think it's one of the indirect philosophical points that has resulted from our the U.S. First Amendment.
