Not talking about the search spiders, but the actual guests.How come when looking at the list it sometimes says "registering for an account" yet there aren't any new members? Is it because they are simply looking at that section but not actually registering?
Most likely yes….they might be spiders unrecognized by the system and are generically labeled guests.
Sorry, I didn't even see your post until just now. I agree with Donnie – those “guests” could still be robots (spiders, spammer software) that could follow the “register” button so it looks like someone is actually registering. I've set the forum registration up so that it's easy to sign up and no need to confirm one's account via e-mail. We've also managed to keep most spammers at bay….although I might catch spam on here once every three months or so.
