Well ol' Bob Barker retired from the Price Is right today. I have'nt watched the show in years, but when I was a kid we never had cable so I watched it off and on growing up. I feel as though another part of my youth is gone. I guess he was on there for 35 years, starting in 1972. That show has seen a lot of modern history.
I can't believe that the show only gave away $300 million in cash and prizes over all that time. I thought it would be much more than that. The last show is on TV this evening in my area.

What? Is $300 million not enough? Seems like a lot to me. If you figure they gave away....what...perhaps $50k per show? Multiply that times 250 shows a year ($12,500,000 per year), times what....30+ years? It comes out about right (come on down!). Actually you have to figure in for inflation and how the dollar amount must have kept getting larger over the years. But yes, Bob Barker is a figure you become acquainted with during your sick days as a kid. He's had an incredibly long TV legacy.
