Has anyone ever read any of his books? I just got “The Peloponnesian War” and read a few sections on Sparta and it's quite good. I've only heard of him because he's cited in my textbook and in about 90% of the journals and papers I've read. It'll be a while before I get to read the whole book, this Rome stuff is going to keep me fairly busy. But I was just curious if anyone's heard of him or read anything of his.
I have and have read On the Origins of War. I think he is kind of flaky but he is a noted authority. I cannot fault his research, I just dont necessarily agree with all of his conclusions. He does write extremely well and in a very readable style.
