The push to combat GW is not about class anymore than social spending is about helping the so-called disadvantaged. It is ultimately about control. If the vast majority of the population is beholden to the government for their very sustenance then the government only has to keep the gravy train flowing to maintain their power. It is a modern day version of the Ancient Roman Bread and Circuses. GW feeds on liberal guilt to convince everybody that they are really helping society by lowering their standard of living. The communists did it in pursuit of the socialist utopia, the GW'rs are doing it to avert Global Catastrophe. Their vigorous defense of the orthodoxy of GW raises alarm bells in my mind because if their science was so rigorous they would have no need to demonize it's critics, yet that is what they do.

True, but Marx wrote that after the perfect communist society was established all the folks that (of necessity) had bigger desk, thicker carpet, corner office, etc., to get us to that point would step back to our level. Ever see an IC give up the goodies willingly? Only places a communist rev. took were in ag. societies and only then by selling the peasants a land-reform bill of goods. Yes the nasty landlords lost the land and it was given (read rented...) to the peons by the gov't. Just a change in the overlord, not the system. That isn't the US, UK, etc. So how come we think this is all going to be beer and hero pictures?
That Dictatorship of the Proletariat worked out real well didnt it? Dont try telling me that Lenin and Stalin got it wrong, I have read Das Kapital and the Communist Manifesto too. True communism defies human nature, that is why it failed. Unless you are going to tell me that China is still a communist country? :-The Schtick about Proletarians is nothing more than any other ideology that tries to demonize the other, for Hitler it was racial, for the communists it was class. The GW argument is just another class argument. The truth is that western GW proponents have a guilt complex and 3rd world countries are envious.
