Could this mean that we should expect more "dictatorial" efforts to strong arm one particular view on us democracies?
Isn't that what they are already doing with this cap-and-trade proposal? we are watching democracy go down the drain in America and the advent of the true nanny-state. It is sad but predictable too, with the loss of any sense of personal responsibility in America over the last 30-40 years.
It occurred to me that we usually refer to “nanny state” to describe government which unnecessarily (and unjustly) infringes on the rights and/or freedoms that its citizens have traditionally enjoyed. Most of the time this infringement occurs on the periphery. There has to be a point, however, when such infringement morphs the nanny state into totalitarianism. Question – where exactly is this tipping point?
Global Warming “models” are imaginary and most forget or will not acknowlege the proof in ice core sampling. This science, sampling, does not serve the political hackers who are and will continue to benefit from fear, all the while buying their own rights to jet all over the country and use many times their alloted emissions quotas, cases in point, Gore & Pelosi.Hasn't anyone told them. that fossils of hippos and crocodiles have been found, in abundance within the Artic Circle? Next stop, Shifting Poles; a man made catastrophe.
What is the effective difference between the nanny-state and totalitarianism? Both regulate citizen?s behavior. Totalitarians control it explicitly; the nanny-state does it for your own good. I think I would rather have a totalitarian who just blatantly tells me what to do than some insipid bureaucrat babying me because they think all the proles are too stupid to think for themselves. Freedom of speech has already gone down the tubes in this country. I will really start to worry when they want to take away our guns. Gun rights will disappear incrementally. When the population is entirely disarmed then the nanny-state will take off in earnest. It will come into being by nickel and diming us to death. Each measure will seem reasonable on its own, it is only when taken in totality that people will realize they don?t have any freedoms and by then it will be too late. What will the American version of reeducation camps look like? I am guessing they will call them something like sensitivity and diversity training centers, and they will just happen to have guard towers and barbed wire fences. Probably for the security of the inmates and not to keep them in, at least that will be the official line. Also just wait until they outlaw wood burning stoves as being detrimental to the environment. I can foresee a day when individuals have to buy a carbon allotment and face severe penalties for exceeding it.
And the March begins to destroy democracy and bring on the Nanny-state. This from a guy who works for NASA and is one of the chief architects of the Global Warming scam.
