Hess flew to Scotland on his own, allegedly to talk a peace deal with G Britain. How true is this or is this just all some conspiracy thing? Hess wanted to meet with the Duke of Hamilton. Just did a little background check on the Duke and he didn't seem to be a traitor or anything....they supposedly met at the 1936 Olympics. Maybe Hitler was correct on one thing, Hess was insane.
I assume it is true. We discussed it a bit here:
As far as I know, your succinct account above is actually correct. Hess was presuming on a friendship with the Duke that did not really exist. Of course, the conspiracy theorists have a blast with such a wacky episode.
The records of this and his “interrogation” are going to be released to the public in 2017 I think
Haven't the 50 years under the Public Records Act already elapsed?
Yes, but I read somewhere they extended it for some reason (maybe just to mess with the conspiracy nuts)
Could be, I would. ;D
