Yeah, but for some reason it didn't feel that bad outside (just walking to my car). During mid-day in downtown Minneapolis I saw it was -14. The thing I worry about is my car. I really hope I don't get stuck with a dead battery. Oh yeah, and it take a while for the thing to heat up when it's that cold.
Did it just get cold stateside? The last day we had where the Temperature got above freezing was 27 December. We have about 4 inches of snow on the ground and more coming tomorrow. The highs are supposed to stay below freezing until the beginning of February. Then, to top it all off the Russians cut off the gas. My house a new heating system, with gas, of course. My wife and I decided we are getting a woodstove to hook up to our unused chimeny for next winter. ;D We can buy wood from the local forest, we just have to cut it ourselves.
I like wood-burning fireplaces to begin with, so that's what I would get if I were you. Then again, maybe you already have one or two of them in your house.Well this morning at 9 a.m. it was -21 degrees out. Last night I parked my car in a parking lot which gets a lot of wind, and this morning it wouldn't start. I had to get a jump to get it going, and then just barely. I think with windchills it must have gotten to -40 out last night. It's getting old now...it's an event just to try to change my headlight because if it takes longer than a few minutes to do my fingers will get painfully cold. Where did the warm go?
My house currently has central-gas radiators, the old oil system was replaced about 5 years before I bought it. I have two chimneys but only one is being used. We are going to install a wood stove in the living room this summer. Not only does my wife think fires are romantic, I then willnot hav to worry about freezing if the Russians cut the gas off again. It finally broke freezing yesterday, we have a heat wave at 33 F. I cant wait for spring to kick in, I am tired of freezing when I get in my truck every morning to go to PT at 0500.
