Why am I having so much trouble finding primary Irish sources for the Norman Invasion of Ireland? Please help.Is The Song of Dermot and the Earl the only source?!?!
I found this: Gerald of Wales: The Conquest of Ireland, it is not Irish but at least a primary source. I will see what else I can dig up.[UPDATE]Perhaps the Irish just did not write that much that survived. The English did try to supplant and destroy Irish culture for close to 800 years after all, and almost succeeded. I would imagine one of the things they did was try to destroy indigenous literature and histories.
Thanks. I already found all or most of the sources at that Fordham site. From the looks of things so far, the only primary Irish sources are literature.
