A former Hitler Youth member discussed his experiences to a Colorado school recently. He said this:
His father, a doctor, disagreed with the Nazi ideology and spoke about it at home. Schendel repeated what he'd heard to Nazi officers while training with Adolf Hitler's youth league, not knowing it would get his father in trouble. German soldiers came one night to take his father away, and Schendel has never seen him since, he said.

I wonder how many of these men, now at an advanced age and having the gift of hindsight, are not attempting to reconcile their past deeds? I have no doubt this gentleman is probably very heartbroken and sad that his actions most likely caused the death of his father, but when he was a lad and Hitler's mind games mesmerized the German people, especially the moldable minds of it's youth, he probably had a different viewpoint. He was doing what all his friends were and joining the youth program was a way for them to be patriotic.I very could be wrong, but just food for thought...I do think however, that this mans goals for promoting America are right on target...
