Who can guess – in which state were the most millionaires (per capita) in the world located in 1850?

A) Correct you are!B) I think I asked the question wrong because I didn't say "county"I thought that stat was interesting, especially since Mississippi is unfortunately lagging in most economic indicators today. At least it had a gilded past.

I bet that New York was not too far behind Mississippi because of the rise of commerce there, especially after the opening of the Erie Canal. Around that time in the first half of the 19th century, NYC surpassed New Orleans as the largest U.S. port.
