If she's not Presidential material, like some of you are saying, then why is she being attacked so much? And if not her, then who else?I know her chances of gettting elected, or maybe even getting the Republican nomination, are not impossible, but are not exactly high odds. I like her because she is the most Conservative, seems to have the most common sense, and she shares many of the same values I and other Conservative Christians have. That's why I like her and will support her until the end.
I think she is and can be more effective outside of elected office than in it. That, and I think she is too polarizing. I agree with much of what she has to say and I like her blunt style but sometimes I ge the impression that her bluntness is somewhat of a charade. Personally, I like Michelle Bachmann if we are going to nominate a woman to the Republican ticket. I still have not given up hope of the Tea Party organizing as an actual third party advocating fiscal sanity and small government.

I pretty much agree with you on Sarah Palin. I would definitely vote for her for president and I'm admiring her more and more as she responds calmly to all sorts of vicious attacks, but I think she has become fodder for the media. That is, the media has (unfairly) painted her narrative in a way that she would not be able to escape from. I think that this would make it especially difficult for her to be elected. I am from Michelle Bachmann's district and have voted for her (perhaps I should have worked on her campaigns in years past, and tried to ride the wave all the way to the White House 😉 ) and she is among the best, principled conservatives in Congress today. Unfortunately, I think she has also become fodder for the left and the media and that would make it hard for her to be elected as well.Ok, let's face it - successful conservative women have a particularly difficult time escaping the wrath of the left. I have an idea as to why this is.
I agree 100% that conservative women come in for special treatment from both the left and the media. I too have a theory as to why that is so.Here is another pretty good example of the left's "tolerance" for dissenting opinion. Anti-Palin Posters Appear in SF To be honest, I don't think these posters are any more or less tasteless than the posters of Obama in Joker face-paint. I find it strange that when someone becomes a political target their opponents have no problems using statements out of context or even putting words into their mouth. The level of dishonesty in American politics is disheartening and I see it most often from the left.
Wouldn't any true Conservative be polarizing? Still, why is she attacked by the media so much? Are they truly fearful of her and why? I agree about Bachmann too. She handles herself well under pressure, like when she's up against progressives in a debate.
My theory as to why conservative women are attacked so much is because their politics swing to the right (especially their social politics), they are successful in what they do (they have large followings), and also – get this – because they are physically attractive. Yes, I think this latter aspect actually does have something to do with it. I think that those on the left think that women who are physically attractive owe some kind of due to the forces on the left, probably because it was the left who “brought” sexual liberation to the left. Also, it was left-leaning feminists who peddled the message that women could be both successful in her career and as an “object” (though that's not really the right word) of attraction. Historically, women might be one or the other – either physically attractive or in rare cases in a successful work position. The fact that conservative women have captured both of these while at the same time repudiating the leftist ideology that in a way made this possible is something that is deeply unsettling to them. At least that's my theory. 🙂
