KeymasterCan a politician really be this good? Read this:"The adjectives tumble over one another. He is not only the handsomest, the best-dressed, the most articulate, and graceful as a gazelle. He is omniscient; he swallows and digests whole books in minutes; he confounds experts with his superior knowledge of their field. He is omnipotent."Is the media/public building up Barack Obama too much? That quote above was actually not about Obama, but written about John F. Kennedy in 1961 in The New Republic. But I thought it was written about Obama when I first saw it. It made me think that a parallel of expectation must be going on between the two presidents, and expectation that almost surpasses greatness. Kennedy's legacy stands strong to this day but was framed by the way it stood in time after his assassination. Had he lived his legacy might be considered very different today. How long will it take before high expectations and political realities hit Obama? Will the public give him a free pass once he hits some obstacles, or will the expectations make his landing even harder?

The media, Democrats, blacks, liberals, and the Left have all placed him on a very high pedestal. The only direction he can go is down

It's going to be real interesting to see how the media covers (no pun intended) his mistakes.

ParticipantBased on the reporting the media at least, think Obama is the second coming. I think the hangover will kick in very rapidly once he fails to do something the media elites think he should do. I predict (and hope) that he is not as idealistic as he has been made out to be and once the realities of office kick in, he will be more pragmatic than he sounded during the campaign.

ParticipantThe media is in the tank for this guy. They helped him create his mythical aura, and they won't tear him down because he is the very thing they have been hoping for since Reagan destroyed their glass house in 1980. Look, I'm going to support Obama until he really does something dangerous or stupid like try to take my firearms. I want to celebrate and enjoy our first black president. I want to be proud of him just like anyone else, but I know he's a Marxist and a product of Chicago thug politics so I won't get my hopes up too high. He seems like a likable guy, and the American electorate wanted him to have a chance to bring “change.” Okay let's give him his chance, but there will be no excuses now since he has a very strong majority in both houses of Congress. He's been given the mandate so he must use it to lead effectively. Let's see if he can.

ParticipantHear come the second thoughts. This is like the third or fourth hit piece I have read recently about how ::)The One ::) now owns the economy. It is a good one though. I especially like the nod to Chris Mathews and the tingle up the leg turning painful.Even a messiah loses his training wheels Apparently the hangover is starting to kick in and some democrats and the media are starting to realize what a disaster they elected for president. Time will teel if their revelation has come too late or not. I personally think Obama will ram most of his agenda down our throats and we will spend the rest of our lives dealing with the consequences of that just like our Grandparents had to deal with the unintended consequences of the New Deal.

Gotta disagree with you here - (tongue planted firmly in cheek) - today's media really doesn't recognize the "first coming", so he can't be the second. ;D

ParticipantI stand Humbly corrected. ;D I should have said he is seen as the first coming since obviously the son of God was not it to the bunch of Agnostics/Atheists in the media to whom the faithful are just a bunch of dangerous fools anyway.
