Here’s an article that addresses how certain things surrounding the first Christmas may have happened:

Yes, that celebration seems to affected the date chosen for Christmas in the 3rd century. We started a thread on it here (now is as good a time as any to dust off the old threads from Christmas past! 🙂 ).
