ParticipantHere is a an article where climate scientists are calling for WWII style rationing in the developed world to combat Global Warming. The conference where the papers were presented was in Cancun, now I wonder how many scientists flew there as opposed to swimming to reduce their carbon footprint? This is another example of the do as I say, not as I do crowd at work.

KeymasterGW rationing is a curious thing. People will self-impose “ration” to a degree (those who buy into it), but unless there is a governmental authority behind this, participation won't be high enough for it to work as desired by those behind it (sound like any particular economic system you know of?).One of the reasons why participation will be spotty without an authority to enforce it is that the masses will realize that the people at the top (the wealthy, politicians) don't necessarily participate, even though they are the very ones who promote it.

ParticipantApparently one of the authors of the paper is advocating an enforced rationing regime. Maybe he does not realize that it will not work in a democracy without a very good and CONVINCING logic for it. I don't think the GW crowd has made a compelling argument yet despite what their models forecast, they certainly have not stopped trying to twist observed reality to fit there agenda though. I saw an article a few weeks ago where one guy was claiming that GW will make winters harsher; if that is the case then would not increased winter snowfall counteract the effects of summer glacial melt by renewing glaciers?

ParticipantWe can ration all we want, but one Indonesian volcano eruption will wipe out 100 years of self-imposed rationing.

That is true but then the GW folks apparently think that man controls everything about the climate and if they could just get us all to get with the program everything else is manageable. Simple things like nature actually irritate them I think. I really laugh as I sit here typing this in the middle of a snowstorm at the beginning of what many German meteorologists are predicting will be a 1000 year winter; I already have over 8 inches of a snow on the ground and we are supposed to get 7 more tonight and another 10-15 over the weekend. For some reason, I have a hard time taking GW seriously. :-

ParticipantAh… but there's the rub. Man's carbon emissions are responsible for “severe weather” – global “warming” is a misnomer. It causes hotter temperatures, more severe and colder winters, earthquakes, volcanic erruptions, sun spots, droughts, floods, and male pattern baldness.

Finally ! GW doesn't mean tropical temperatures everywhere ...

QFE. I believe in climate changing naturally but a lot of the inconvenient-truth-lemmings I simply cannot take seriously (no offense if you like that movie, I bought into it when it came out but have since changed beliefs).

ParticipantLike communism, McArthyism, or fascism the GW folks really just crave control and are trying to use fear of global climate catastrophe to gain it.
