Stott: he is a life-long UK Labour supporter and he is mildly left wing politically. Are Leftists not so "disgusting" when it comes to support some point of view ? 8)

Assuming what you're saying is true, I will admit that is highly ironic/funny.
Don't know much about him except his environmental positions, but from what I've read, he doesn't sound at all like a Leftist.
What is mildly left wing? Is that like being mildly pregnant? Or do you mean he is slightly left-of-center? Of course I don't think there is a bright, shining line that divides left and right, at least not individually. I guess that is one of my biggest heartaches with the left/right dichotomy, it does not really lend itself to shades of gray. It is almost as though everyone has to be either/or and anyone who is not on one side or the other is dismissed as a kook.
