There was a story about drudge on this, but here are some better photos of the sinkhole in Guatemala.http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/05/31/giant-sinkhole-in-guatemala-looks-as-if-it-goes-to-centre-of-the-earth/
That picture looks like it has been photoshopped to me.
While it might not be, I agree since it is so perfect. I has, however, hit multiple sites and seems almost viral.
It seems to be a true one !http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/06/01/giant-sinkhole-opens-in-guatemala-city/
That picture looks like it has been photoshopped to me.
I didn't think about that, but now that you mention it, it does look like it has been photoshopped. If it was, it was done by the Guatemalan government since it was uploaded to their Flickr feed. That in itself would be a news story!
Do an image search on sinkholes. Most of them are quite round.
This site shows some cool ones:http://thefortuno.com/7-biggest-holes-in-the-world/
Ever since the scandals of Reuters Photoshopping pictures during the last intifada I am immediately suspicious of just about any picture that looks too perfect. The article says the sinkhole ate a building yet the picture clearly shows the sinkhole being in an intersection. It may be a real picture, in fact, it probably is. If so, it is an example the truth being stranger than fiction. The Daily mail has an article with two different pictures of the same sinkhole.I still think it looks fake, even if it is real.
