I know there are different Commands…Southcom, Africom, Centcom, etc. Can people from Southcom (South America area) or any other non-Middle East command be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan? And are these Coms only relevant in the Army?
The different commands just designate the geographical area that command is responsible for. Soldiers can be deployed to any of them. The commands are Joint Commands which means they are service non-specific, the commander can be from any service and can command troops from any service.
