Not school or history related, I promise I won't be a pain, it won't be that often and will only be an occasional sentence or two and maybe a screencap from a webpage if I can't C&P. If translation is needed I'll just PM instead of clogging the board. Any volunteers?
You are talking about the French right? The people who take the “if you dont speak my language you are not worth talking to” attitude to extremes. I have been to France several times and only in Normandy and Epinal was I treated with any courtesy, Belgian French-speakers are another matter entirely. The French have a well deserved reputation for haughtiness and arrogance.
As I said, I have not had uniformly bad experiences there. Both Normandy and Epinal were great and I would gladly revisit both places. The folks in northern France were really nice too. Every time I have been to a big town, I have been disappointed by their general rudeness. I have not been to southern France yet though. I plan on visiting Beziers, Carcassone, and Alesia eventually though.
Yeah, that might work. I just don't have much faith in google translation. (that sure is one disorganized website!)
Eh? How much accuracy do you really need? It's an athletic site with players wearing pink shirts....not like you need it to read instructions on how to dismantle a nuclear bomb! ;D Anyway, was there a particular section that you needed to translate?

I have been to Bordeaux, possibly to Marseilles....but what I really enjoyed was Avignon. Great place, and a place I would want to revisit some time. Carcassone would probably be on my list as well, in addition to Orange and some of those other medieval towns.

I know, the pink shirts. I used to make fun of them until I learned this club is comprised of some of the best rugby players in the world.I'd like to find a clear and legible match schedule, but I can probably get that from their rival teams' sites (as long as they're in English). Can't even follow them on twitter or facebook either because those are in French too.
I want to see the well and church in Carcassonne. Few people know that Carcassone is where the famous phrase about Let God sort them out was coined. When the town was finally taken in 1217 (I think or close to then), both Cathars and Catholics took sanctuary in the church and when the Crusaders asked the Papal Legate how to tell heretics from faithful he told them to burn the church down with everybody in it “for God will surely know his own.” The well in the castle courtyard is where the wife of the Count was thrown into and had stones thrown after her. Reportedly it took her three days to die.
