KeymasterWell, he's wearing a Phrygian cap, a belt and jacket, shoes, and no pants. A precursor to the Smurfs? One of the characters from the Asterix universe? Ok, I'm stabbing in the dark. I have no idea. 🙁

ParticipantActually, he looks like Hermey from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV program.. the elf that wanted to be a dentist instead of an elf. 😀

ParticipantNot even close, I will wait for a few more tries and throw out a hint. He is not somebody I would expect more than a few Americans to recognize and to the best of my knowledge he has never been on American TV.

KeymasterI just did a semi-thorough search of the internet and could not find anything. I did find some disturbing pictures of gnomes, dwarfs, and elves. Including the following:http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/11/view/7014/garden-gnome-nazi-salute-lands-artist-ottmar-hoerl-in-trouble.html

KeymasterNo wonder I could not find it. I kept searching for cartoons. Turns out that Sandm?nnchen was stop motion animation.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandm%C3%A4nnchen

ParticipantYes it is the Sandmaennchen. He comes on three channels in Germany every night and when my son was younger it was a nightly ritual to watch him before bedtime. He throws sand and that puts the kids to sleep you know? He also sits on the desk in my office after my son got him in an ?berraschungseier (a chocolate surprise egg that is illegal in the US because the toys are too small and the nanny state says kids will die). Here are a couple of German sites that have info including the homepage which you will have to have Google or someone translate because it is only in German.Unser Sandmaennchen, Google has some of his videos, myvideo.de has a whole bunch as well, He even inspired some East Germans with a way to escape. He is the only cool commie I can think of, I still watch him every once in awhile when I think of it.

ModeratorDoes he throw sand in their eyes? 😮That's dangerous you know.I am offended and appalled by scout's deadly avatar.
