They say the winner gets to write the history. Who will write Iraq's recent history? And will it differ from our version?
Not exactly sure what you mean by this question. I think the Iraqis will write their own history. Hopefully their history books will mention how much the United States has helped them achieve freedom, democracy, and economic prosperity. Also, I hope their history books will mention how privatizing oil was a good idea so that they can sell at $40/barrel to those who helped them achieve this. 😀
Marxist Historians, Revisionist Historians, Islamic Historians, Evangelical Historians, Catholic Historians, Economic Determinist Historians, Military Historians, and Constitutional/Legal Historians will all line up to write about the events in Iraq. Iraq is such a charged topic it seems that it will be a hot study area for historians for many many years. I suspect that the consensus on Iraq will never be agreed upon and the controversy will rage from here to the end of time. In other words, Iraq is good for the history business…..and I do stress the business part. 🙂
