ParticipantUnless they are marching down the Champs Elysee I don't think it is really news.
They did. In 1994, under the supervision of Helmut Kohl and Fran?ois Mitterrand. (Guess you were asleep that day ;D )http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfeewj_resume-du-defile-du-14-juillet-1994-en-presence-de-l-eurocorps_news

Participanthttp://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/10/german-troops-france-euro-support The force stationed outside Strasbourg was agreed by Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel as a show of unity between the countries. The French defence minister, Alain Jupp?, hailed the "highly symbolic" move as an end to "centuries of conflict"** I'd say since AD 843.

ParticipantI dont know, I like the idea of a bomb that kills everybody but leaves the infrstructure intact. I can think of a few places I would be willing to use them, most of them in desert locales.
That's what they tried in Rwanda in 1994: kill people, save infrastructures ... so everything should keep running as usual; except that the planners lost !

ParticipantWikileaks are like peanuts – absolutely addictive, but in the end curiously unsatisfying. This analysis can be close to your historian view about the real impact of these "revelations"http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11918573

ParticipantThey are impressive facts, but we must not lose sight of the fact that those abilities were born of need. The needs of modern man are very different than the needs of pre-historic cavemen. We are standing on their shoulders but we have very different challenges to face than they do. I don't think it is a case of superiority so much as a case of different survival requirements.
ok but what about your "200-300 years ago philosophers" ??
