ParticipantI'm not sure how significant they were in the scheme of things, but I believe they were somewhat advanced for their time. Weren't the Minoans the ones who wrote Linear A?
You're right about Linear A, it was the official script for the palaces and cults and Cretan Hieroglyphs but the Linear A is unrelated to any known language.

ParticipantI arrived here by chance while looking for informations about the Normans and the Early Middle Ages. I couldn't help to reply about Feudalism and the virus got over me …Even if I like to provoke or to be sarcastic, I've always found gentlemen here, quite rare and precious, especially about the feelings on the opposite bank of the Atlantic !

ParticipantWould it possible that the Indian removal act of 1830 might have been inspired by “Le Grand D?rangement” (the Big Disturbance) ?This was the forced population transfer of the French Acadian population from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick (an area known as Acadia to the French) to other British controlled colonies between 1755 and 1763.

ParticipantYour Wikipedia reference might have been removed because I didn't read anything about some of the Crown Jewels left there.Furthermore it seems that these Jewels are on display in the Tower of London and guarded by Yeomen Warders (?Beefeaters?).The present display of the Crown Jewels was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 1994.http://www.royal.gov.uk/The%20Royal%20Collection%20and%20other%20collections/TheCrownJewels/Overview.aspx

ParticipantThe etymology of the word si?ge comes from Middle English sege, from Old French, seat, from Vulgar Latin *sedicum, from *sedicāre, to sit.A way to illustrate the action of surrounding the enemy and "sit" until he surrenders.
