AethelingParticipantAmid the violent chaos of gunfights, hangings, Civil War battles and prison camps, The Good, The Bad and The ugly was quite pleasant thoTry harmonica 8)
AethelingParticipantCopenhagen reminds me The Brigands: an op?ra bouffe, or operetta, by Jacques Offenbach wherein the carabinieri always arrive too late to capture the thieves…Why did Copenhagen fail to deliver a climate deal?http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8426835.stm Climate summit: Where's the beef?http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8422367.stm

AethelingParticipantA cat is cat (as we say in French) whatever you call it, I agree.
AethelingParticipantWhat about “The Thin Red Line” by Terrence Malick or the French movie “The 317th Platoon” (La 317e Section) a 1965 French war film directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer ?http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x33axi_la-317eme-section About the The Schindler list, I saw it few time after I came back from Rwanda in 1994, my feeling at the time was that movie expressed too much "Hollywood sensibilities", I mean "overacting". Reality is much more worse
December 22, 2009 at 2:47 pm in reply to: What was the most significant pre-Greek civilization? #11838AethelingParticipantWhat about the Minoan Civilisation ?They were part of the Bronze Age, the Aegean civilization, ages before the Dorians settled in Ancient Greece.Could they be considered as pre-Greek people (cfr. Indo-European invasions as a cause of the Bronze Age Collapse) ?
AethelingParticipantI wonder if all these apologies, self-flagellations and so on… are not in the same trend, or even result of political correctness ?Once made, what would be the real consequences ?
AethelingParticipantBoth.Because I have the feeling that both might be linked.
AethelingParticipantI tried to check your “list” but a warning page said the site was hacked !! Is the list available again ?
AethelingParticipantWishes for X-mas (nothing to do with any snowball fight)
AethelingParticipantฺBecause Auschwitz became “The Symbol” of Nazism. Its real implications towards its ideology and those who still try to justify it. Even if those men were not born at that time, they perfectly knew what they were doing, “Arbeit Macht Frei” is not just a piece of steel. What is your:
disrespect goes on toward other religious beliefs that barely gets noticed
?
AethelingParticipantJust found it today … :-
AethelingParticipantThe Peace of Augsburg established the principle of Cuius regio, eius religio. Its principle is: "The religion of the prince becomes the religion of the state and all its inhabitants". Those inhabitants who could not conform to the prince's religion are allowed to leave (against the Catholic teaching stating that kings should faithfully obey the pope).Of course all these Edicts or Peaces didn't end any wars of Religion, as usual, but it brought a kind of relief for their inhabitants (before they would have lost control)
AethelingParticipantCongrats Senator Scout 8)
