ParticipantSurprise me : what about Intelligent Design or the creation?evolution controversy ?
What does this have to do with global warming? Being taxed to death to pay for something that cannot be controlled by man and where there is no consensus that it actually is caused by man, and documented proof that the data was fixed, is an entirely different topic than the creation/evolution debate.

ParticipantPeople complain about America now, what would happen if we really used our power to seize what we wanted? 😛
Another civil war.

ParticipantI can understand that feeling however are you alone to fight in Afghanistan, to deal with Iran, North Korea, Al Qaeda or any threat against freedom and democracy (Christianity included, check the last referendum in Switzerland) ?On the other hand America is not alone, fierce fights still occur but nothing new under the sun and these "struggles" are necessary for maintaining these ideals.

ParticipantIf they were right, no need to use that kind of propaganda based on a fears or that kind of nonsense evidence: soviets are dead ! Facts, scientific evidences can tell the truth. Did they bring any of them ? Who is behind the wheel and why? However it would be interesting to know to whom this message is sent, what kind of people are receptive to that kind of primal disinformation ! Did you ever see that kind of message from the opposite side ?Surprise me : what about Intelligent Design or the creation?evolution controversy ?

ParticipantI watch with bated breath the communist activities in Copenhagen. It's a strange feeling to know your ideological opponents are fighting amongst themselves. Protesters who seem to protest each and every international meeting are now doing their thing at the Copenhagen summit, seemingly disrupting the other leftists inside who could potentially force eco-regulations on the world.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNQqUACJ_KwDo we hope that the protesters cause enough havoc to prevent any regulatory catastrophe from emerging from this? Then again, I can't say I support the protesters in their plight in the least. The best thing is if they neutralize each other. A strange, but oddly intriguing development.
Check the source: - VDO made by AforP - AforP stands for Americans for Prosperity http://americansforprosperity.org/about - Americans for Prosperity is a Washington D.C.-based conservative political advocacy group which describes itself on its Web site as "... an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state and federal levels." It was founded in 2004 by David H. Koch of Koch Industries. - David Hamilton Koch is an American engineer, billionaire and businessman. He is one of the co-owners and an executive vice president of Koch Industries: a conglomerate with major petroleum and natural gas holdings that is the second largest privately held company (after Cargill) in the United States.A neutral view about the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen; just a bit surprised they didn't add some Imperial stormtroopers ! (just like they added the former USRR anthem... did you say machiavelism?)

ParticipantI saw a clip about this story last week, about the Chief of Staff being forced to retire. From what I thought, it seemed like a lower-level officer ordered the strike but officers in the higher ranks took the fall for it. I imagine that the stigma is still quite high with the idea of a German military. This might not end until Germany is thrust into an actual war in which it is instrumental in conquering an unjust foe.One thing that I do remember from the clip I saw - I was a bit surprised about the officer's uniform. Something (can't remember what it was - perhaps on the hat?) looked like an eagle, something reminiscent of the Nazi uniform. I know that the Germans try to get away from their past, so I was a bit surprised that they held on to that symbol.
Was it something like this symbol ?If yes, it's coat of arms of Germany, featuring an eagle. The colours of the coat of arms are similar to those of the flag of Germany (black, red and gold).

ParticipantWhy the Nazis only?I've found this:When Christmas Was Banned. The early colonies and Christmas by C. Danko Outlawing the celebration of Christmas sounds a little extreme, but it happened. In fact, the culture and way of thinking that led to the ban was an important, as well as controversial, part of life in 17th and 18th century Massachusetts. The ban existed as law for only 22 years, but disapproval of Christmas celebration took many more years to change. In fact, it wasn't until the mid-1800s that celebrating Christmas became fashionable in the Boston region. The Puritans who emigrated to Massachusetts to build a new life had several reason for disliking Christmas. First of all, it reminded them of the Church of England and the old-world customs, which they were trying to escape. Secondly, they didn't consider the holiday a truly religious day. December 25th wasn't selected as the birth date of Christ until several centuries after his death. Thirdly, the holiday celebration usually included drinking, feasting, and playing games - all things which the Puritans frowned upon. http://www.apuritansmind.com/Christmas/DankoChristmasBanned.htm

ParticipantThese tankers were stolen by the talibans, then “opened the tankers up to looters to siphon fuel”, then an air strike was decided. Civilians were killed, however it was not a gas station and they knew it. Terrible but none can condemn the German Army for that.

Tabloid allegations about his private life.works-righteousness and a form of supererogation... a moral fervor in bringing about a just society, which sometimes created paranoia and intolerance for other views.

ParticipantCan the 16th of December 1944 be considered as a X-mas celebration ? Knowing that most allied armies would celebrate that kind of truce.
So what the hell are you saying here? Or do I just not get your humor?
As a matter of fact, because of the massive attention focused on the Battle of the Bulge, the Germans accidentally forgot their declaration of war against the massive forces of the Soviet Union. Soviet soldiers swarmed into Germany like rats. This was all part of the Battle of the Bulge (aka Die Wacht am Rhein) although frequently (deliberately?) forgotten. Not to mention that reindeers were originally found in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Russia, Mongolia, and northern China north of the 50th latitude and NOT in the Ardennes (Bulge original name) !!
