Face-wounded soldiers of WWI were nicknamed : Gueules cass?es (broken mouths) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Got_His_Gun_(film)

Dalton Trumbo was roundly criticized for writing that book and the film was met with hostility.  He wasdebarred from his profession and had to be brought back secretly as he was or perceived to be a “Red”I read the book when I was quite young and did not get the idea that war was hell to much later–sort of like Sherman.

Hey Guys — This may seem a little random, but I have a proposition for you. I need a four page paper written by tomorrow. I know, this isn't a lengthy or difficult task, but I am swamped with work and school that I seemto have forgotten that this little golden nugget needs to be handed in tomorrow. So, I would gladly pay whoever feels like they are capable of writing a well thought out and organized essay over the following topics: The essay must include all three works to be accepted. We can discuss payment if you are serious email me at …    …   …   …Throughout Western Civilization, many groups have felt rage, because they have not been treated fairly or equitably within their respective societies.  This mistreatment is often based on little more than their ethnicity, gender or religious affiliation.  In this essay, you must consider the source of these ?rages.?  Use the following to help you (must use all three):  Second Treatise of Government (Locke) , On Liberty (Mill), Frankstein (mary Shelley)Finally, you must identify one work, which you feel offers the best solution for assuaging this ?rage.? YOU MUST CITE THE TEXT TO SUPPORT YOUR POSITION!!

    sob   :'(

This is a most inappropriate request, it is illegal and people have been prosecuted for turning in work that was not their own.  Worse than that, it is a stupid thing to ask.  You should feel mortified.

Check word “touted”  Grade remains unchanged with no further appeal considered.  Alteration suggests errorand weakness as well as a problem with word usage.  If you send me a secret message with your e-mail, I will send you a jewel of rare price from George Orwell.  It is a bit too long to be appended herein.

In doing some research on the historiography of the first world war – in particular the controversy caused by Fritz Fischer in the early 1960s regarding Germany's war aims and grab for world power, I came across a quote that I thought offered a pretty succinct and thought provoking insight not only to the historiography of the times, but also to the national and diplomatic moods in the post war years:“Defeat caused bitterness and victory disappointment.”Having read some 12-1500 pages in the last two weeks, here I find it in six words.

I read this book in graduate school and I recall that it was guaranteed to produce heated discussions as itdeviated from what was then the orthodox interpretation of the Versailles treaty.  In your six words youdescribed the years between 1918 and 1939 perfectly and they are, as you suggested, apropos at othertimes.  I trust that this sort of radical condensation will not become the standard text at schools–it would put the test makers out of business.

We are exploring hypotheses–usually a very productive way of pointing the way to truth–or–using horse sense if you will–whatever that ever meant?

I do not know (gnosis) either, but I was taught and I have read that we had a hand in the extinction.Horses (Equus)continued to evolve and develop for another six million years after Pliohippus and became very successful, spreading throughout North America. At some point some of them crossed into the Old World via the Arctic-Asia land bridge. Then, suddenly, no one is absolutely certain why, between 10,000 and 8,000 years ago, Equus disappeared from North and South America. Various theories have been advanced including destruction by drought, disease, or extinction as a result of hunting by growing human populations. At any rate, the horse was gone from the western hemiphere. The submergence of the Bering land bridge prevented any return migration from the Old World or Asia, and the horse was not seen again on its native continent until the Spanish explorers brought horses by ship in the sixteenth century.Hypotheses rule!

second picture shows garaza on the traffic panel , it's train station in Croatian language!!  (could still be Yugoslavia at the time)

RIGHT!!  1985–Yugoslavia–Belgrade to be precise. There is no Croation language per se.It is the Serbo-Croation language with two scripts–one Latin and one CyrilicThings may change in time, but in 1985 it was still a nation-state with a single language and a dual signage.Kudos to you!
