by Erich EyckGood book with much info on Bismarck's rise to power and the steps to the unification of Germany.Must admit that it was a bit over my head at times. Someone with a good background in German history would probably appreciate this book much more.Well written but a little dry at times. Loaded with information, but not footnoted too well so it was hard to tell the difference between the author's opinion and actual fact (I did question a lot of things the author stated, but maybe that's due to my lack of knowledge in German history).
I'll lok for this; when I was teaching “world” he was one of the really interesting stories. Thanks for the head up.
I too, will have to check this out. Bismarck is one of the central figures in the 19th Century unification of Germany and sits in the period of German history that interests me the most.
Scout/Wally, I think you'd really like this book. If anyone wants to borrow it, just let me know and we'll arrange something. I picked it up at a used (rare books) book store. Not sure if you can still buy it anywhere.
I dont have an address yet. I actually have to catch the train to Frankfurt tomorrow to sign in off leave. I dont know that i want to go back to work after 42 days of leave but I guess I will have to. Once I get settled in I will have to get back with you.
