I like Mel Gibson as a director of historical movies. I'm sure who else I might like. I think it's almost easier to choose least favorite directors of these kinds of movies. :-[
Your right Mel is a good director
I'd propose Mel Brooks too.
How can you forget blazing saddles? "it's twoo, it's twoo!"
How about Terri Garr and the roll in the hay?
How about Clint Eastwood? flags of our Fathers was outstanding as well as Unforgiven.
Agreed. Though I think I liked Letters from Iwo Jima better. It will be interesting to see how his Legacy stacks up against some of the other legendary directors when he finishes his career. Outlaw Josey Wales was a good one too.
I haven't seen Letters yet. I had forgotten about Josey Wales which is strange since it is one of my favorite movies. The Oklahoma parts are set not far from where I grew up on the Grand River.
Great book too. His handling of Mystic River was good too. But with that cast how could you go wrong?
