Right after Pearl Harbor was bombed we had a real cold night. Our well pump had a tube that went to the pressure switch to cut the pump off when it reached the set pressure. The water in the tube froze and the pump kept pumping. The 200 gallon water tank exploded about dawn blowing the side off the pumphouse. My dad jumped up thinking the Japs were bombing us.
LOL. 🙂
Something like Pearl harbor would set anyone on edge.

True indeed. On 9/11 I was going to school and thought that it might be a terrorist target as well....this was when all the facts were still coming in about the other events going on. I can see how the slow flow of news dissemination about Pearl Harbor would have made people paranoid about their own personal safety.
I believe after the attacks on 9-11, wern't there a couple planes not accounted for? I think for an hour or two there were some “missing” planes and they were very worried about those, considering the nature of the attacks.
I think they believed up to like 19 planes were going to be hijacked, so they probably thought some were missing in the confusion.
