Everyone I know who loves history has a large collection of books. How large are your personal librarys? And What are some of it’s highlights? You’ve spent enough money, Now Brag!I have about 1500 books presently. I'd say about 1000 of those are non-fiction and 95% of those are historical of some sort. Lots of Bio's, most of the civil war generals, many frontier figures including , Cody, Hickok, and earp. My main intrest lies in american history, though I did pick up a volume on the french revolution, called Citizens by Simon Schama.
My collection is not anywhere as big as yours…you have a pretty extensive library, it seems. I have found that it is difficult moving when you keep such a large collection, so for people in transition like myself, large libraries don't always fare well. My interests lie in art history, philosophical history, and classic literature (i.e. Greek, Roman, etc.) so those are the main history books that I have. I have found that reading philosophy has given me a pretty good understanding of history of particular times, as it brings me to a better understanding of the zeitgeist (if you will) of a particular age.
Very good point. I just moved three months ago and it was a pain. I hope I wont have to move again any time soon.

Did you paint that ceiling yourself?Stumpfoot, that's quite an impressive inventory. I'monly starting getting into reading more so my collection is rather small at the moment.You guys should do a"what are you reading now" thread and have a book review/roundtable discussion.
Is that you leaning on the counter with the backpack?
Actually I'm not in that picture as I was out hunting foxes with my crew of established gentry and our hounds...I didn't want to be couped up in the mansion all day long. 😉

Ski you will probably come across some good books during the course of your studies (depending on how much they have you read). I think I tried to do something like a book review in a previous thread some time ago and it didn't get anywhere...probably because no two people are reading the same book at any given time....but who knows maybe it could work now.

My collection is about as big as Stumpfoot's, and I'm going to put most of them up for sale on Gunsandall.com. 😀

H.H., which Little Bighorn books do you have and which do you think are the best? I have Wert's Bio on Custer as well as Connells book on him as well.
