Lincoln's presidency was the most stressful one in American history. I'd be throwing fits everyday if I had armies within cannon distance of me, spies all around, a crazy wife (did I say crazy?…yeah I did anyhoo), incompetent generals who can't cut the mustard against Bobby Lee and his rag tags, copperheads and defeatists pushing for my job, and moralists clamoring for me to free slaves. How many of you guys could keep your cool without blowing your top every now and then? This from someone who isn't a Lincoln apologist.
I would be full of rage if i was him too. Your President of the United States and suddenly your richest states leave the country. Then when war is started you loose everything in the east untill 1863 and then everything after that is not a picnick. Also your youngin dies while you are in office and your ugly wife is always depressed. Yeah i dont think i could have done that i might have “accadentaly” rode to far into confederate lines one day when i was inspecting the troops.
