Found this interesting site today while surfing: LII / Legal Information Institutehome search find a lawyer donate It is a constantly update online version of the US code. I strated randomly looking at various laws and it makes for interesting reading to say the least. I originally looked up Seditious Conspiracy because I saw the charge in connection with the militia folks in Michigan and wanted to know what the text of the Statute was. Very interesting, to say the least.
I have not read the Seditious Conspiracy statute. Is it interesting?
Here it is:
TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 115 > ? 2384Prev | Next? 2384. Seditious conspiracyIf two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Very short, yet extremely broad at the same time the way I am reading it.
