Italian researchers announced today that they “think” they have found the bones of famed Italian Renaissance artist Caravaggio. They are not 100% sure because he did not have any children and the DNA they recovered is degraded. I guess this is kind of a neat story but I wonder what concrete knowledge this gives us other than now being able to point at a grave and say he is buried there. I guess to me the most amazing part is that they did the work and managed to find any remains at all that they can get an 85% certainty from. Apparently e was buried in a paupers grave and his remains were mixed with those of several other people, if no dozens of other people.
It might be of interest to you to know that I have just completed some research of early Italian texts, and I am trying to identify a map which I have posted today in thus forumPlease let me know if you have any idea where it's supposed to be.regards
