As many of you probably know, many Japanese-Americans were interned in “camps” during the second world war. Many were US native born citizens, known as Nisei. Some Nisei volunteered for the armed forces directly from the camps, and many of those interned had parents and siblings in the camps.During the war, many Japanese-Americans fought valiantly, including in Asia. One unit, known as the Marauder Samurai, were essentially special ops who worked deep behind enemy lines in Burma. See http://www.marauder.org/nisei01.htm for some more info.I find this bit of US history a bit ironic and more than a bit embarrassing.
