Greetings fellow Historians,I'm currently a student at American Military University, pursuing my B.A. in History with a minor in Middle East Studies and would like to inquire about any current or former students on here who have successfully made the transition to at a traditional university for Graduate School? or If you're about to apply to?I'm eager to know from those who did it or about to do it, if they received any negative feedback or application denied into certain programs. Thanks.
Hi tito, although I haven't applied myself, a few of my professors at AMU have told me that some of their students have been accepted at Cornell and other graduate programs elsewhere. Not sure of history, but as far as the military history UG program, AMU is held in very high regard.
Hey Tito – I'm an AMU grad student in the Mil. History program. I have a few friends who completed their bachelor's degrees in history at AMU who have been admitted to (and are attending) law school – one is at University of Mississippi.

Hey Vulture,Wow, a few of your friends had no problems getting into law school with their BA's in History from AMU. That's amazing. I know since AMU/APU are semi-new to the education world, it's really hard to find anyone with getting accepted into law schools or good graduated programs. I really want to use my degree to get accepted into a good law school and graduate program. I'm willing to apply to Ivy league schools, even If I don't get accepted by them.
One of my fellow undergrad students is attending the Military history MA Program at UNT. At least he was as of two years ago, if he stayed on track he should have graduated by now.

Hey Tito!Right off the top of my head I can tell you that we've recently had a student who received his BA in International Studies who was admitted to the Fletcher School of Diplomacy at Tufts University.I do know that we've had several students admitted to multiple other universities, but at the moment I don't have a list handy - I can tell you, though that that's a hot topic on our Facebook wall/discussion boards. We're super proud to have so many successful and accomplished students... and I think the list above is just the tip of the iceberg 🙂Here's also a list of student accomplishments (outside of academics) that one of our students has been compiling on Facebook as well:http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=111238175573301&topic=99
I attended the American Public University. The workload is at an acceptable level. It may seem like overload for some, but if you're good at military learnings from what you read without as much interaction as you would get from a face-to-face classroom military setting, then you should be fine there. Degrees from APU/AMU really open more doors.
Applying to Troy University with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from AMU. There are no issues with admissions. You still need GREs and letters of recommendation, which is the standard in most grad school admissions process. Don't worry, AMU is accredited. Sleep well and finish your degree with good grades. Good Luck!!!
I have a BA in Military History and MA in European History, both from AMU. I just applied for admission to the PhD Program at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany. The admissions office said my degrees were good I just have to find a professor willing to supervise my dissertation.

trap1984,Did your A.M.U. professors write your letters of recommendation? What graduate program are you applying to at Troy University?

Scout1067,What do you plan on focusing for your PhD at Friedrich-Alexander University? Was Friedrick-Alexander the only university you applied for your PhD?
