This animated map of the US presents an actually unbiased graphical account of the the History of the US from the Revolution to the admission of the Hawaii in 1959.  It takes ten minutes but is well worth watching.  My dad sent me the link.  It is interactive too, you can click on each state and it provides some brief info about its founding and when it was admitted.
