Now that I have a bit of free time on my hands, I will be upgrading the forum to SMF 2.0 quite soon. Hopefully this will allow me to add a few bells and whistles that will help with the forum experience, and of course it will come with a different “look”, although I will probably against stick with the default SMF theme. At the same time I will be moving to a new web host. I hope there will not be many interruptions in service, but as I migrate to the new host you may intermittently see the forum in "maintenance mode", during which time you will be unable to read or post in the forum. This will be temporary as the nameservers are updated.Thank you for your patience.
Er…this is the heads up. ;DI will probably change around the logo at some point, and see what I can do with other graphics. I do like the folder images that we had around here in the past.
Dear all,Around midday on June 25 I changed the forum nameservers, so the migration to the new web host has begun. If you are reading this, you are looking at the site at the new host. If you happen to see the old site in "maintenance mode" from time to time, it means that migration has not yet been complete. Simply wait it out and things will be fixed on their own.
I like the new interface and look. Not much has really changed on the front end though has it?
Not too much...yet. I may add some new add-on features as I sift through them, but for the most part posting and stuff should remain the same. When I switched over, apparently it reset the registration controls I had in place since some 20 spammers or more have registered (I keep deleting their profiles). It's amazing how constant they are....we can't let our guard down for a second.
We ought to have a logo contest here. Just to play around with some concepts.
I can tell you have the graphics design bug right now. ;D
You mean you don't like your bird avatar? ;DActually, I have to upload the remaining files. I will do that and your avatar should (hypothetically) reappear.

I've wasted an hour or two or three on 99designs.com trying to win a logo contest, but have failed miserably because I'm going up against real artists who have Adobe Illustrator at their fingertips whereas I'm stuck with Inkscape (which should be fine if I had more talent and experience).
Everything seems to be fine today. I just have to get used to some new tools, e.g. Toggle View, and how to insert links without the http:/ and it will be fine. Once again, congrats for this upgrade, Phid

Thanks, but....where are you seeing "Toggle view" or the place to insert links? It appears the same as the old forum in my view.

Congrats on entering those kinds of contests. I haven't ever entered anything like that in the past. I do like to visit http://logopond.com/ from time to time to check out what the professionals are doing. I'm always floored by how ingenious those logos are. One of my all-time favs at logopond is this logo.
When I looked up information on it before, I found that it was for a fictitious company. I suppose it helps when you aren't restricted to a client's actual needs. Still, it is conceptually amazing.
