Wasn't there some extinct woodpecker or something in Arkansas that researchers claimed to have rediscovered in the wild a few years ago?
I think that would be the ivory-billed woodpecker. It looks very similar to the pileated woodpecker. I took a course in avian ecology in college and I remember that we used to joke about finding one of these birds.
