There is an interesting amphitheater ruin at Caerleon, Wales, which was once a small amphitheater which has been restored (well, on computer at least). I had not heard of this amphitheater before, but they mention that the town was possibly intended to be a larger city for Roman administration in the area. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-17231530
